Position Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the overseeing the beverage manufacturing and packaging equipment, while supervising personnel to complete the daily production targets. The Supervisor ensures full compliance with SOPs, food safety, health and safety, administrative policies; preventive monitoring of equipment, labor reporting, process improvements, yields.

Shift: 2nd, 3pm - 11pm
Salary range: $75k - $85k (depending on relevant education/experience)

Essential Functions

Responsible for direct supervision and utilization of equipment, materials, and people on the production lines.

Adhere to all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies, health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.

Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements

Front line supervision of plant hourly employees to ensure production criteria is met without compromising quality or employee safety

Provide supervision and leadership to maximize plant efficiency and performance.

Conduct daily meetings with day and afternoon shift lead hands to identify and resolve issues.

Draft and post weekly employee schedules based on production requirements in accordance with the CBA

Liaison with the Maintenance Department to ensure, operational deficiencies are rectified in a timely manner

Liaison with the Quality Assurance Department to ensure quality is not compromised.

Liaison with the Shipping Department to ensure customer service level is maximized.

Daily walk through the plant including but not limited to the production area.

Ensure production personnel are maintaining good housekeeping practices and end of shift cleanup is conducted daily

Provides training and cross training to assure production schedules are met within budget, product specifications, quality requirements and safety standards.

Reviews, evaluates, counsels, disciplines and discharges employees as necessary to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity requirements

Evaluates and recommends improvements to product manufacturability

Back up to the Operations Manager as required

Requirements

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Food Science, Business or related discipline. 

Minimum 3-5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably soft drinks.

SAP prior experience a strong asset

Previous experience in the food/beverage manufacturing industry preferred.

Position-Specific Skills:

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, & Outlook) with the ability to learn new applications as required.

An understanding of operational electrical and mechanical systems is a plus. Troubleshooting and Lean Manufacturing experience required.

An understanding of SQF, responsibility for Food Safety /Food Quality and the responsibility to take action when notified or becomes aware of any Food Safety or Food Quality issue.

Ability to prioritize and multi-task in an organized, detailed manner, given limited time frames.

Must be flexible to work alternate shifts if production needs allow.

Physical Demands:

Physical - Continuously standing or walking.

Visual/Sensory - This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.

Work Environment - Work and environment are very repetitive.

Climate - This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work in ambient hot and/or cold seasonal environments.
