Annual Salary: $65,000

P osition Summary: T he Mobile Response Team Therapist is responsible for therapeutic crisis stabilization intervention and crisis prevention services in the Brevard County System of Care in a variety of home and community settings. This position provides immediate response for family stabilization in the northern part of Brevard County and follow-up support for children and youth up to age 25. This position is grant funded; although ongoing funding is expected, employment could end as a result of the loss of funding.

Technical/Functional Expectations:

  1. En s u r e Therapeutic Crisis Response 24/7: This position provides therapeutic crisis response in Brevard County and ensures that crisis stabilization intervention and crisis prevention activities are available 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. MRTs are designed to address a wide variety of situations, including suicidal and homicidal behaviors, individuals displaying hallucinations, family/peer conflicts and disruptive behaviors. The MRT can be the first on the scene or they may be called in by law enforcement or other professionals (school personnel, adult and child protection staff, other medical personnel). MRTs are dispatched to the location of a crisis with a target response time of one hour from the time of the call. MRTs coordinate in- person services with law enforcement to provide additional safety, when appropriate and necessary.
  2. Liaison with Community Partners: This position will serve as a liaison and accept referrals from Schools, Law Enforcement, families and individuals not involved in the Judicial Child Welfare process. 
  3. Comprehensive Summary of Crisis Intervention: This position will provide a comprehensive summary of any crisis response provided within one business day of the response. The summary includes a crisis response summary, brief behavioral description, crisis intervention utilized and any needs or recommendations.
  4. Follow Up: This position will provide follow up resource/referral support to children, youth and their caregivers as needed up to, but not exceeding 45 days.
  5. On Call Schedule: This position will respond to calls as part of the on call rotation.
  6. Participation in the Trauma Informed Care Initiative: This position participates in the Trauma Informed Care initiative in order to improve outcomes for youth in the Brevard County System of Care.
  7. Other duties as required : Job performance requires fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.

Business Experience:

  1. Two years’ Experience Crisis Intervention: This is required in order to appropriately respond to and stabilize crisis calls.
  2. S trength Based Family Centered Practice Orientation: This is essential in order to effectively support the System of Care and its values.
  3. Va lid Driver's License - Essential: This position requires a valid driver’s license in order to travel throughout the County and requires $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury insurance coverage (per FL Statute) in order to transport clients.
  4. Two to Five years Clinical Services Experience: This is required in order to effectively supervise and coach clinical services options and manage crisis response.
  5. S trong Interpersonal, Presentation, and Organization skills: This is required in order to effectively partner with various stakeholders and agency staff and adequately train community stakeholders.

E ducational and Experience Requirements:

  1. LCSW, LMHC or LMFT preferred.
  2. MA/MA – Master’s Degree required.
  3. 2 to 5 years related experience required.
  4. 5 to 8 years related experience preferred.
