Brief Description

The Compliance and Training Coordinator is responsible for the daily management of the Company's safety and other training programs in order to maintain compliance with all applicable laws and regulations to enhance Ideal Market culture. This includes implementation and enforcement of company policies pertaining to the safety, health, and behavior of Ideal Market employees. The Compliance & Training Coordinator needs to ensure that employees are following optimized standards at the highest industry level.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including health, safety, labor, and environmental laws.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of store operations, identifying non-compliance issues, and providing corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with legal and regulatory parties during inspections or audits.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure consistent adherence to standards.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire onboarding, safety protocols, customer service, and operational procedures.
  • Partner with department managers to identify skill gaps and create tailored training plans.
  • Use various methods, such as workshops, e-learning platforms, and hands-on training, to enhance employee engagement and knowledge retention.
  • Maintain detailed records of compliance activities, including audit findings, corrective actions, and incident reports.
  • Track employee training records, ensuring all certifications, including food safety and ATC are current and up to date.
  • Organize and store documentation related to policies, procedures, and regulatory updates.
  • Prepare and submit compliance and training reports to management as needed.
  • Ensure accurate documentation is readily available for internal reviews and external inspections.
  • Ensure all employees understand and follow health and safety protocols, including food handling, cleaning, and emergency procedures.
  • Regularly review and update safety policies and training to reflect the latest regulations and industry best practices.
  • Investigate incidents or accidents, identify root causes, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Work closely with Human Resources, Operations and Managers to align training initiatives with store goals.
  • Act as a resource for employees seeking clarification on compliance or training-related matters.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  • Travel to stores for on-site training, as needed.
  • Other duties or assignments as needed to ensure safety and training needs are met.

Requirements

Training Coordinator Top Skills & Proficiencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 2+ years in a compliance or training role, preferably in the retail or supermarket industry.
  • Food Safety Manager Certification (e.g., ServSafe) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for supermarkets (health codes, labor laws, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in training methods, including virtual and in-person instruction.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, training software, and record management systems.
  • Show confidence, patience, discretion, good judgment
  • Good character, high integrity and have the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to influence others with a positive attitude
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Possess excellent customer service skills and has a passion to serve and train others
