JOB SUMMARY: As scheduled and under the general supervision of the Technical and Production Manager, the Stage Manager works with Cultural Arts events team and artists to program lights and sound, rehearse and run performances, complete nightly show reports, and occasionally work as the front of house manager. The Stage Manager serves as the representative from the Cultural Arts Department and reports directly to offsite leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Program lighting and audio/visual equipment and programs for Cultural Arts events and troubleshoot AV issues before, during, and after performances.
• Run assigned technical elements during the production, including ETC Eos Family lighting console, QLab, or other sound on a digital console.
• Set-up and break down each performance within the allotted time in coordination with Center technicians.
• Manage talent, giving appropriate calls prior to performances, ensuring rehearsals and performances stay on schedule.
• Manage event technicians and lead tech team through successful events.
• Follow security procedures particularly with respect to safety, equipment, and access.
• Monitor condition of equipment and supplies and report any problems or needs.
• Provide post-event feedback relating to event, equipment, and facility, including formatted rehearsal and performance reports, sent in a timely manner following the rehearsal or event.
• Participate in staff meetings, special events, and other activities as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues relevant to LGBTQ people.
• A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
• Solid background in live, special, and theatrical events, with a minimum of three years’ experience running light and/or sound boards for live events, experience with QLab and Eos Operating Systems required.
• Working knowledge of and the ability to operate light and sound boards and various AV equipment for events and theatre, ability to program and/or mix and experience with projectors and projection preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and an ability to interact appropriately with visiting as well as on-site technicians, theatrical producers, directors, designers, artists, and clients.
• Strong time management skills, and the ability to display leadership when getting performers into places and performances started in a timely manner.
• Computer and internet literacy, prior experience with complex computer software.
• Ability to implement event details from written work orders and to work effectively with minimal supervision, as a team, as a leader, and alone.
• Ability to adhere to a strict schedule including running a show with minimal technical rehearsals, beginning and ending performances on time, and completing duties within assigned time.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours required.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
