Job Summary

The Press Operator, working in conjunction with the Press Feeder, assists in the production of high quality printing jobs, to meet customer and company expectations, in a cost-effective manner while meeting strict deadlines, on one of several large printing presses.

• 2nd Shift - typical hours 2:15 pm - 10:45 pm.

Responsibilities

• Complete understanding of LAB values and image control via color scanning device
• Ability to achieve proper registration, ink and water balance and maintain color balance throughout job
• Working knowledge of dot gain, proper trap, inks and coatings and how they work with a multitude of substrates
• An understanding of plate curves and how they affect the CT in ¼ tone, mid tone and ¾ tone values
• Ability to retrieve JDF files, and to preset the CPC 2000 and set up press the most efficient way
• Good eye for color and be able to match proofs
• Knowledge and ability to hang blankets and plates, and to pack press properly
• Knowledge of the Alcolor Water System and Vario Roller Hickey Picking System
• Working knowledge of the Technotrans Cooling and Water System
• Be able to work at a high production rate in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to operate motorized pallet jack and/or forklift (certification may be required)

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience running a 6-color press with aqueous coating (Heidelberg Press experience preferred).
• Litho Experience Preferred
• High school graduate/GED
• Any trade experience is a plus
