Start Date: Immediate Location: Las Vegas, NV Reports to: Director of Grant Services Summary Nevada GrantLab is on a mission to connect nonprofits and public agencies (“community partners”) with underutilized grants that can benefit Nevadans and strengthen recipient organizations. We are seeking an experienced grant professional to join our team to provide community partners with expert grant writing services that supports them in identifying, applying for, and submitting competitive grant proposals . GrantLab seeks to fill one (1) full time Grant Writer position and it is open to candidates with varying levels of experience, from mid- to senior-level professionals with the qualifications and competencies outlined below. About Nevada GrantLab Nevada GrantLab (“GrantLab”), a 501(c)3 nonprofit formed in 2020, assists nonprofit and public agencies (e.g. institutions of higher education, tribes, local and state education agencies, local governments, and state agencies), to effectively prepare, apply for, and administer grants. We do this by building relationships with current and prospective grant applicants, then providing capacity building, technical assistance, and grant services led by our talented staff and strategically sourced network of local and national experts. Using philanthropic and government grants, GrantLab covers up to 100% of the costs of its services so that community partners can focus on the work, not how to pay for it. GrantLab’s Grant Services program provides a range of expert services through its in-house team and a network of vetted contract grant professionals around the country. Since its inception, GrantLab has supported community partners in winning over $300 million in new federal grant funding to support local services in areas such as Education, Housing and Homelessness, Mental Health, and Workforce Training and Economic Development. What You Will Do As a Grant Writer, you will be responsible for researching, preparing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding for partner organizations. The scope of responsibilities will be tailored to the selected candidate’s experience level, with opportunities for increased responsibility and leadership for more experienced candidates. Regardless of experience level, the Grant Writer will support community partners in winning competitive grant funding through the following Grant Services: Comprehensive end-to-end grant writing, including content drafting, editing, reviewing, and project management. Grant prospecting and outreach to match good-fit opportunities with community partners. Proposal planning and strategy development to help community partners understand and align proposed projects/activities to funding agencies’ objectives, priorities, and recent funding decisions. Reviewing, editing (copy and substantive), and sample-scoring proposals written by community partners. Analyzing reviewer feedback and helping community partners understand and strategize improvement plans. A Senior-level Grant Writer will perform the above duties and additionally, support community partners through the following Grant Services: Co-writing federal grant proposals with professionals working in community partner agencies, acting as a coach to collaboratively strategize and create competitive proposals. Supporting and guiding multiple community partners as they work together on a single application (i.e., prime applicant and sub awardees). Preparing and delivering training and other presentations to groups of various sizes, backgrounds, and experience levels. A Senior-level Grant Writer should be comfortable and confident in presenting to groups, and able to make complex topics feel accessible. In performing this role, the Grant Writer will: Scope engagements, prepare project budgets, and prepare reports. Maintain client files in GrantLab’s CRM. Prepare, deliver presentations, facilitate meetings, and draft documents. Leverage your experience working with grants to advise, provide actionable guidance, and assist professionals working in program, finance, grant, and executive roles in Nevada’s diverse nonprofit and public agencies. Read and interpret Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFO). Collaborate with GrantLab’s community partners to prepare all components of a grant application, including narrative, budget, and attachments. Ensure compliance with all regulations and requirements of the funding opportunity. Own and lead all program management functions and work plan implementation; support partners in performing their tasks; manage meetings and adjust project work plans to ensure all proposal tasks and milestones are accomplished. Understand and adhere to grant management standards to include cost principles, allowable costs, procurement requirements, etc. Beyond external Grant Services, you will: Help GrantLab find and apply for funding. Serve as a staff liaison to community partners and the community at large. Monitor, stay apprised of changes in federal grant compliance, regulation, etc. Serve as a thought leader and advocate for nonprofit excellence and maximizing grants to benefit Nevadans. Qualifications and Competencies Grant Writer Minimum three (3) years of experience in grant writing. Substitutions will be considered for program and finance professionals who have substantial experience administering federal grant-funded programs or budgets. Able to empathize, build trust, and effectively work with a wide range of individuals and organizations. Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Experience working with diverse or vulnerable populations is strongly preferred. Driven by a service and satisfaction ethos. Self-motivated, able to juggle simultaneous projects and competing priorities. Demonstrated passion and commitment to working in nonprofit or government sectors. Availability to work outside of traditional business hours, to travel locally, and to occasionally travel regionally and nationally. Preferably fluent in Spanish or other locally prevalent language. A Senior-level Grant Writer will additionally have: Minimum five (5) years of experience in grant writing. Experience managing a portfolio of grant funders and maintaining long-term relationships. Expertise in developing multi-year or collaborative funding proposals. Knowledge of OMB Uniform Guidance, 2 CFR 200, etc. required; advance knowledge is strongly preferred. Training or public presentation experience. Working at GrantLab Compensation: The salary range for the Grant Writer position is $72,000 - $95,000, plus the opportunity to earn a discretionary performance-based annual bonus of up to 5% of salary. Final salary is based on depth and breadth of experience and qualifications.
