Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Diablo, California is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
The position will report to the Director of Agronomy to provide daily championship-level golf course conditions. The position will be responsible and assist in daily and long-term course maintenance, leading, overseeing, training, developing, coaching, and assisting the maintenance team and utilizing the newest turf management technologies. Delivering firm, smooth and healthy bentgrass putting surfaces is a priority.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leading and assisting the team, assigning daily assignments, providing guidance, training, coaching, and assistance, and ensuring work is completed as expected and promptly.
• Assisting and managing the implementation of the agronomic plan and budget for the course and grounds.
• Identifying, evaluating, and recommending corrective action for agronomic problem areas, including diseases, pests, and drainage issues.
• Overseeing and supporting the daily set-up and maintenance of the golf course, including routine maintenance, chemical applications, and equipment operations.
• Inspecting irrigation systems, identifying issues, and implementing corrective action.
• Recommending, evaluating, planning, and implementing long-term and short-term projects related to renovations, repairs, and care and maintenance of the course.
• Training new and existing staff in golf course equipment operations, safety procedures, and the expectations of the Club.
• Educating and ensuring the team is aware of and follows safe work practices, and maintaining facilities and equipment that are safe, clean, and organized.
Requirements:
2 year degree in Turf Management or a related field.
Previous experience in a supervisory position at a golf course.
Golf course maintenance experience, with a proven record of having exceptional course conditions.
Knowledge of pest control products and their applications.
Knowledge of turf chemical and fertilizer products and their applications.
Knowledge of irrigation utilization, drainage installation, repair, and maintenance.
Have a current state pesticide applicator license or the ability to acquire one.
Understanding of and ability to utilize new golf course software applications.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Compensation:
$90,000 – $100,000 per year.
Group medical and dental benefit options are available for employees and dependents on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
