Customer-focused and familiar with working for a family-owned and operated business. What you’ll be doing? Lead and model overall culture, values, mission, and spirit of the company. Is knowledgeable about the ideals and principles of South LA Cafe and Market and ensures that our story is appropriately conveyed by staff and store environment. Maintain cost of goods and payroll expenses at agreed upon percentage levels. Communicate with vendors to maintain business relationships and secure appropriate pricing, in coordination with the District & Operations Managers. Seek to grow customer base and increase store traffic by collaboration, leading promotions and creating partnerships within and outside SLAC. Maintain a functional, safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with health and legal regulations; maintaining security systems. Perform annual employee reviews and conducts ongoing coaching and training sessions to ensure high levels of performance. Enforce beverage and food recipes, portions, production, time sequences, workstation and equipment arrangements, to maintain consistency and quality control. Create systems to improve work procedures and staff performance to increase service quality and enhance job safety. Run the Cafe in direct communication with the District Manager and owners, responsible for the day to day operations of the facility at all times. What you’ll need to succeed? 2-3 Years of coffee/cafe management or hospitality management experience. 2-3 years of leadership experience including managing, coaching, motivating, and directing others. Experience in a fast paced, high-touch food service or hospitality position. Volunteer or community service experience. A positive mental attitude and the ability to lead and inspire a team. Strong critical thinking and decision-making ability aligned with South LA Cafe company procedures. Clear and effective oral and written communication skills. Unparalleled work ethic, with a passion for community service and customer service excellence. Physical Requirements Must be able to work in a fast paced, high energy, and physically demanding environment. Will spend 98% of the time standing and walking. Will spend 2% of the time sitting. There will be occasional exposures to cold, heat, and water. Will be required to use physical capabilities such as: walking, bending, kneeling, handling, hand flexibility, reaching, squatting, lifting, climbing, and stooping.
