Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the worlds best private schools, where students from lower-income families who are looking for greater opportunity can explore their individual interests to the fullest. Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school is fully endowed with the resources to ensure every child and staff member has what they need to succeed. The school has prepared nearly 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students in the coming years.

MHS is seeking a part-time Campus Safety Officer to join its growing team. The Campus Officer is responsible for collaborating with others to ensure a safe and secure campus environment for over 2,000 students, staff, and visitors to the school. The Campus Safety Department operates on a 24/7/365 schedule and patrols a 10,000 + acres school campus with over 210 buildings including student homes, farms, schools & other buildings. Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Educating and re-directing students and staff as needed.
  • Completing required documentation and reporting on a timely basis.
  • Participating in drills and other emergency preparation activities.
  • Contributing to the development and refinement of procedures, and overall smooth operations, within the CALEA general orders and the Department.
  • Other duties as needed.

The work schedule is considered flex based on the needs of the department and will not exceed 29 hours per week in a 7-day work schedule. The officers may work any combination of shifts and should be available to work weekends, holidays, and overnight hours. The Campus Safety Officers are represented by the MHS Safety & Security Association bargaining unit and new hires will start at the unarmed rate of $30.90 an hour, then move to $36.65 an hour after successfully completing all mandatory training required to carry a department issued firearm and start their field training program. Part-time employees are eligible for a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program (EAP), and Hershey area discounts.

Milton Hershey School does not discriminate in hiring, promotion or any terms or conditions of employment, based on race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, sex, age, religion or religious creed, veteran status, disability, or any other status protected under applicable federal or Pennsylvania law. The position will close for applications on 2/28/2025.
